Small Group Fellowship

Knowing the “busy” season is approaching, we decided to have a Small Group Fellowship at camp last weekend.

(We are part of a Small Group at church)

Some of us did the Ropes Course for fun.

Shortly after we started the fire, it started sprinkling…..Bummer! But, we preserved and finished eating–then it was a quick getaway back to the cars before the real rain started!!

It was a short night but fun!

We won’t go to Small Group during the summer, so this was kind of our last “Hoo-rah” before our camp schedule starts!

A Lot of….Nothing (and some pictures)

I miss writing…..I crave to write. But, each time I sit down to write, I cannot get my thoughts out of my head onto the screen. I just cave. I have nothing inspirational to say. Maybe it’s because of lack of content. Maybe it’s because of lack of motivation. I don’t know, but I miss it…..

So, until I get inspired again, you’ll just have to settle for some randomness.

A couple of Saturdays ago we went to Matthiessen State Park with Shannon, Tyler, and their kids. Brian and Julie S. (along with their kids) met us there (they live in Aurora)!! It was so fun!

The last time we went to Matthiessen was back in March and everything was still frozen over. This time it was all thawed and flowing pretty heavily! I didn’t take a lot of pictures (because I was busy holding hands with one of the 5 kids that were there), but it was fun nonetheless.

At the beginning of April this girl I know named Crystal put on FB that her daughter, Brae, had a “Flat Stanley” that would like to go visit different places, if anyone was interested in hosting her! (“Flat Stanley” is a fictional character out of a child’s storybook about a little boy named Stanley who is “flattened” and goes on all these adventures) Brae drew a picture of her own “Flat Stanley” aka “BZ GIrl” and was doing a school project about her. Because we live in such a unique place with lots of places to go on an “adventure” I volunteered to host “BZ Girl.” Well, it turns out that Brae’s teacher is from Illinois, so that was kind of fun! Here are some pictures of “BZ Girl!” (I received “BZ Girl” the same weekend I was babysitting for Ethan, Andi, and Jeremiah while Tyler and Shannon were out of town, so she spent A LOT of time with the kids!!

Shortly after this picture Andi loved on her a little too hard, and “BZ Girl” got her leg ripped off. So, I laminated her to make her a little more durable!

As I mentioned Brae’s teacher is from Illinois and went to ISU. So, I found an ISU t-shirt (and a fellow Redbird) to take picture with “BZ Girl.” I figured it wouldn’t hurt and maybe Brae would get some extra points! 🙂

After spending about 4 days in Illinois, I sent her home. Crystal sent me a picture of the page Brae made for a her project, and all the pictures were included!

(On a side note, our first year in seminary at Logsdon, Drake sent me a “Flat Drake,”for a school project, as well. His was life-size, though, which was a little harder to navigate, but we managed! I looked for some pictures, but I couldn’t find any)….

Jumping ahead a bit….

This past Friday night Ember, Shannon, Julie, and I all went to the Conklin Theater to see Smoke on the Mountain, a gospel comedy. It reminded me of the Waco Civic Theater; it just offered a dinner buffet, as well. I thought the musical was really good–I’m not sure Julie and Shannon liked it much, but for a small town theater, with only 7 actors/actresses, it was cute! (Ember was underwhelmed as well; I think she just didn’t know what to expect). I would definitely go again….
