Part One of the Move

So, the story goes that even though Paul quit his job on October 15th, we could not move into the trailer (at camp) until November 3rd because Mark and Nikki were not moving out until October 31st. They needed some time in between to “spruce it up” a little bit….therefore we decided to take it slow and make TWO TRIPS to Illinois in 7 days!!

Here’s Part One:

We left on Saturday, October 25th, to drive our car (packed with electronics, Paul’s guitar, golf clubs, TV, etc) and made it to Illinois by Monday afternoon.

All ready to go....

We stopped in Wills Point on Saturday night to spend the night with my aunt/uncle and go to church with them the next morning. It was a nice stop and I enjoyed seeing them before we left….

We spent Monday-Thursday in and around Chillicothe/Lacon. We stayed with Bob/Angie, and Monday night their granddaughter, Mari was visiting. Paul found a friend, and they read together!

We loved seeing all the kids at camp—when we left Andi was 2 1/2 and Ethan was 3 1/2. Now they are 6 and 5!! 🙂

On Thursday afternoon Bob took us to the train station in Bloomington to ride the train BACK to Texas (we left our car in Illinois!! (Like I said, we were in no hurry to get to camp because Mark and Nikki hadn’t moved out yet, so we took it easy and rode the train)! The train was definitely a “different” experience–I think Paul still prefers driving because you control when you stop, when you get out and stretch, where you’re going, etc. It was a neat experience, but I’m not sure it’ll be our regular mode of transportation anytime soon.

We left Bloomington at 5:00PM on Thursday, October 30th, and arrived in Temple at 4:45 on Friday, October 31st. Yes, 24 hours on the train!! We spent the night at Susan’s house and then Saturday morning went to pick up the truck and start packing!!

On to Part Two…..
