Youth Camp 2014 Part Two

Jasmine and Dominick

Jasmine and Dominick

As I mentioned earlier I wasn’t really around Jasmine, Dominick, or Walker too much (b/c they were in H.S. “Bible Study” groups). I saw them during meals and during worship, but during Recreation and Free Time they were always with their other friends they had made (which is great for them)!

Here we are on Night Three–still standing, still smiling!

Jasmine took my phone and took selfies of herself and Paul! I have no words for this picture….

During the last day of Recreation it was “RELAY” for ALL the teams (16 teams in total)…..it was crazy for about 30 minutes, but we all had fun!

Here is one part of the “RELAY”–I promise it wasn’t that gross! NOBODY in my group would do it, so I took one for the team and did it myself!

There were 12 churches represented at camp. Each youth group had a Youth Minister that “represented” them throughout the week, doing silly games and singing silly songs. This guy below is a Youth Minister. I yelled at him  talking sternly to him one time, thinking he was a kid–Oooppss! Paul was one of the oldest Youth Ministers there (and he’s 34)…..this guy (below) and one other one was born in 1994!! We were in High School–yikes! We are OLD!!

Again, here’s our adopted girl, Alei.

And, with that, camp is over! 🙂

We got home around 4:00 on Friday afternoon. I immediately started the washing machine because we leave for Mission Trip TOMORROW!!!

Youth Camp 2014

Another year. Another week of Youth Camp.

We left on Monday morning and got back on Friday afternoon. To make it easier, I’ll just let the pictures do most of the talking…

Each night they had “block parties” (each night with a different theme)….

Here we are on the 1st night….

We stayed in a cabin with another church group, and we kind of “adopted” Alei as one of our own (which was totally fine)! She was a sweet girl….

There were about 275 campers there for the week. All the campers were split up into “Bible Study groups” with each group having one “leader.” I was the leader for RED 8, which had fourteen 7th and 8th graders…..the good thing for me was I had our 4 M.S. girls, so I got lots of pictures of them!

We had a lot of “down time” and here we are just hanging out, waiting to go to breakfast!

The camp had organized Recreation time for an hour each day. We were in our “Bible Study” groups for Recreation.

Each afternoon the kids has free time from about 3:00-5:00. The M.S. girls LOVED the lake! They went there everyday…..

On the 2nd day I blobbed about 10 times in a row, but alas….no pictures. 😦

Jasmine and Dominick blobbed on the last day, but I wasn’t with them (so no pictures of them either).

Walker hates getting his picture taken, so this is about all I got of him.

We played a game during Recreation called Mayhem. It was great; it was probably the favorite game played! They had about 10-12 deflated inner tubes and each team (there were 4) were numbered off. When they called your number you ran out to the middle and tried to pull all the inner tubes to your side (while everyone else is fighting for the inner tubes, as well).

I’ll put more pictures up in another post.

RLBC PreTeen Camp 2014

Right after Paul and I were married we moved to Robert Lee, Texas. He was the Youth Minister at Robert Lee Baptist Church. I loved living in Robert Lee. It was a very small town (you know….”where everybody knows your name!”) We lived in two different houses while we were there and both were wonderful for us, as newlyweds. We really bonded with a lot of people there and made (and have kept up with) a lot of friends in the short time we lived there. (I’ll always miss that little town).

rlbcWell, about three weeks ago, one of our friends (Meagan) put out on Facebook that RLBC was looking for a female sponsor to go Pre-Teen Camp with their kids. They had ONLY girls going, but no one to take them. So….I volunteered. We haven’t lived in Robert Lee in almost 7 years, and yet, I went. I didn’t know of the girls that went. If they lived in Robert Lee when they lived there, they were only preschoolers, so I wouldn’t know them…..but, in actuality, most of them had not lived in Robert Lee their whole lives, so they wouldn’t have known me or remembered me.

Overall, it was a good week. We had our “ups and downs” (as you do anytime you are together 24/7 for 4 days) but I enjoyed it.
