Saw You at the Pole Rally

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we participated in See You at the Pole yesterday morning. Overall, I was impressed with the students of GMS and GHS, as they gathered together to proclaim Jesus Christ as their Savior and pray for their classmates/teachers/administration/community/state, and nation. I really didn’t know what to expect, since we had not been here before. But, I think the Christ First (the Christian club at GHS) students did a good job of leading it….

Well, in response to See You at the Pole, we had a Saw You at the Pole Rally last night at the Gid*dings Public Lib*rary.

One of Paul’s greatest assets is his ability to communicate and bring people together for a common goal. As you might remember Paul “changed things up a little bit” this year for 5th quarter. Well, as you saw, we had 5th quarter last weekend at the 1st Assembly of God church (and it was FINE, despite the grumbling)…..

So, in response to See You at the Pole, Paul got together with Pat and Ryan (from 1st Assembly and Martin Luther), along with Reagan from the Lee County Cowboy Church and had a rally to celebrate See You at the Pole. Paul hired The Shine (from Arkansas) to come play for us and then Paul presented the gospel message.

After counting (and probably not being completely accurate) I think there were about 60+ people there…..

All the poor and powerless
And all the lost and lonely

All the thieves will come confess
And know that You are holy
And know that You are holy

And all will sing out
And we will cry out

All the hearts who are content
And all who feel unworthy

And all who hurt with nothing left
Will know that You are holy

And all will sing out
And we will cry out

Shout it
Go on scream it from the mountains

Go on and tell it to the masses
That He is God

We will sing out

And we will cry out

And, the coolest thing happened:

Sidenote: **I’ll be honest. I’m somewhat of a “worship snob.” I like to worship. I like to sing. I like to close my eyes and be “in the moment” relaxing, enjoying, and basking in the presence of the Lord. It’s “my time” with the Lord and I don’t want to be disturbed. And, I get easily distracted if people are talking around me…..(yes, I realize after typing that information, I am, in fact, a snob. Thank you for bringing it to my attention).**

Anyway, I was getting S-U-P-E-R frustrated with the kids in the back who were talking, instead of listening and/or worshiping. So, I was distracted. I was mad. I flat-out wanted to leave. But, God had a bigger plan and it was NOT ABOUT ME!!

There was a boy who came last night, drawn in to the library because of our food (trust me: free corn dogs and soda brings in the masses)…..he ate, he filled himself, but the coolest part was, he stayed.

And, because he stayed—he heard the gospel. And, because he heard the gospel—he was convicted. And, because he was convicted—he recognized the sin in his life. And, because of that recognition—he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord.

That night. At that moment. Despite my grumblings and my snobbish behavior, the Lord had the ultimate reign in this boy’s life. And He took a hold of him and didn’t let go…

And, last night, A*** became a new believer….

He has no church affiliation, so we gave him information about our church, 1st Assembly, and the Cowboy Church. My biggest prayer is that he find a home. A place to belong. A place to learn. A place to grow.

And, it was all because of a corn dog and an off-brand soda. 🙂
