We are Official Illini…

My parents live in Texas….they are Texans

My sister lives in Michigan…she is a Michigander

My other sister lives in Hawaii…she is a Hawaiian (OK, not really, but she does live there)

We live in Illinois…we are Illini…officially…at least according to our new license plates!

In order to get new licenses, we have to take a written test…a little scary since it’s been 13 years since we took a written test for a driver’s license.  So…we have this handy book to study….

So, maybe next week, we will have licenses to show off!

Home Sweet Home or…. Trailer Sweet Trailer

We moved last Wednesday into the trailer…I think all of our stuff is over here now, except for a few things…I’m planning on cleaning out the apartment tomorrow…

I think I’m going to like it; it’ll take some getting used to, but I think it’ll be OK.  It took some convincing to move over here, but as long as we do not have any critters make their home in our house (mice have been known to find their way in here before), I’ll be OK…

Here are some pictures…PICTURE OVERLOAD…the last few are just fall leaves/trees around camp!  (For some reason, the captions are not showing up…basically, the first few pictures are of the living room/kitchen, office, master bedroom, etc…

Pictures from this week…

We’ve been busy this week working on the trailer…here are some random pictures

after one day of painting...it looked worse after three days, trust me...

My Sweet Husband

(Here’s the preface to the title of my post)

I don’t like whipped cream or cool whip.  I don’t like them on anything (pie, pudding, cake, drinks, etc)

So, here’s why Paul is the sweetest husband…

Tonight we went to Starbucks.  I asked for a Caramel Apple Spice with no whipped cream.  They put whipped cream on it.  So, Paul took a straw and sucked all the whipped cream off of the top, so it would be a “whipped creamless” Caramel Apple Spice….talk about love!!

I love you, Paul…thanks…

A Weekend Off

This coming weekend we are “off.”  We do have a group here of about 70 people but they are cooking for themselves!!  (WOO-HOO)!!  🙂 They are also doing the ropes course but I think Tyler and Jim are going to work by themselves, which we have the whole weekend off (until Sun PM when I have to cook dinner for another group)…

We were going to go to Chicago for a short trip…but someone (Paul) decided to step on the laptop computer which was on the floor (because I left it there, my fault)…so we are using our Chicago money for a part for the computer….oh, the joys of being an adult and having to make financial decisions…oh well, I guess we’ll spend the weekend packing…

Nothing To Say: Week in Review

I started two different blog entries this past week, but decided against writing them…Why?  Because they were boring…It’s sad to say, but I don’t have much to say…We have no kids, no pets, no family around, so nothing real exciting to talk about.  When we were moved here everything was new and exciting (and everything was a “first” for us) but now I think we’ve ended our “honeymoon stage” here in Great Oaks and in Illinois and life is normal.  As normal as I guess it can be living at camp…

So, here’s to a Week in Review…

I don’t remember doing much on Monday, except going to Boot Camp, which by the way, I completed without having to stop and “rest.”  We did do Amanda’s version of “resting” which was walking to the cornfields and back, but that was OK with me.  I never had to sit down while we were doing it…I was proud of myself…

Tuesday we cleaned most of the day…every building at camp was used this past weekend b/c we had 4 groups here, so we did a massive clean-up and set up for this coming weekend.

Wednesday we had a group here doing the ropes course and eating lunch.  Jim and Paul worked on the course and Tyler and I cooked lunch.  I am very grateful for Tyler helping me; otherwise, I would’ve lost my cool very quickly.  We were grilling hamburgers and the grill ran out of propane.  Luckily, Tyler just thought about going to get his little grill at the house and finished them on that…

Today we went to Parker Electronics and did corporate teambuilding for them all day.  It was a LONG day and I am exhausted.  I have decided that I just do not do well with teambuilding/low ropes initiatives.  I am not patient enough and I do not have the resources within myself to “brush things off” and “go with the flow.”  It frustrates me to no end when people cheat and do not follow directions…and then get mad when they don’t win…overall, Jim did a great job of organizing things and it was a very good day, but I’m just not cut out to be a low ropes facilitator.  I think I’ll just stick to high ropes where there is right/wrong way to do it, and if you do it the wrong way, you get taken off the course…

This coming weekend we have 165 people coming to camp…another long weekend!!  (I think I need another vacation)…

Oh, and we’re moving…again…but that’s for another post, I guess.
