I started two different blog entries this past week, but decided against writing them…Why? Because they were boring…It’s sad to say, but I don’t have much to say…We have no kids, no pets, no family around, so nothing real exciting to talk about. When we were moved here everything was new and exciting (and everything was a “first” for us) but now I think we’ve ended our “honeymoon stage” here in Great Oaks and in Illinois and life is normal. As normal as I guess it can be living at camp…
So, here’s to a Week in Review…
I don’t remember doing much on Monday, except going to Boot Camp, which by the way, I completed without having to stop and “rest.” We did do Amanda’s version of “resting” which was walking to the cornfields and back, but that was OK with me. I never had to sit down while we were doing it…I was proud of myself…
Tuesday we cleaned most of the day…every building at camp was used this past weekend b/c we had 4 groups here, so we did a massive clean-up and set up for this coming weekend.
Wednesday we had a group here doing the ropes course and eating lunch. Jim and Paul worked on the course and Tyler and I cooked lunch. I am very grateful for Tyler helping me; otherwise, I would’ve lost my cool very quickly. We were grilling hamburgers and the grill ran out of propane. Luckily, Tyler just thought about going to get his little grill at the house and finished them on that…
Today we went to Parker Electronics and did corporate teambuilding for them all day. It was a LONG day and I am exhausted. I have decided that I just do not do well with teambuilding/low ropes initiatives. I am not patient enough and I do not have the resources within myself to “brush things off” and “go with the flow.” It frustrates me to no end when people cheat and do not follow directions…and then get mad when they don’t win…overall, Jim did a great job of organizing things and it was a very good day, but I’m just not cut out to be a low ropes facilitator. I think I’ll just stick to high ropes where there is right/wrong way to do it, and if you do it the wrong way, you get taken off the course…
This coming weekend we have 165 people coming to camp…another long weekend!! (I think I need another vacation)…
Oh, and we’re moving…again…but that’s for another post, I guess.
